Whether a corporate sponsor is asking for how you’re tracking against your OKRs or you just want to get a sense for your community health, you need some numbers about your community. But “what should I measure?” and “how should I measure it?” are not easy questions to answer. This page collects tools and guidance I’ve found for measuring community metrics. If you know of one that should be added, please tell me.

Tools

  • curl/stats. A collection of scripts for creating community health graphs. This is written by and for the curl project, but you can adapt it to your own community.
  • git-quick-stats. Get stats from your git repo on the command line.
  • eightknot.osci.io/. Dashboard webapp powered by the 8Knot and augur projects.
  • Open Hub. BlackDuck software’s dashboard for open source projects.
  • LFX Insights. The Linux Foundation’s official dashboard, open to non-LF projects, too.
